Young Parent Program Coordinator

Location:  Works in the community and across multiple POIC locations within the Portland metropolitan area.

Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, plus occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Reports to: Director of Youth Services

Salary: $49,000 - $56,000 Annually

Job Summary: 

As the Young Parent Program Coordinator, you will meet program objectives and deliverables according to contract and grant agreements. Your core responsibility as the Young Parent Program Coordinator is supporting a caseload of up to 50 young parents by providing home visits, family support services, parenting skills, and child development education to young parents (18 to 25) living in or near the poverty threshold in Portland, Oregon.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensures objectives and deliverables are met according to contract and grant agreements, including weekly home visits and/or community classes and/or school-based classes.

  • Works with students to connect them with POIC + RAHS programs, which include after-school activities, tutoring, employment and training services, parenting education services, mentoring, and juvenile justice prevention/intervention services.

  • Serves as liaison between assigned families and programs and uses theories, methods, and techniques of social casework, strength-based interviewing, and adolescent development and will be able to model professionalism and servant leadership.

  • Collaborates with POIC + RAHS colleagues to measure and report student growth in areas such as credit attainment, school engagement, discipline incidents, and school attendance, where applicable.

  • Meets with Young Parent participants weekly and/or bi-monthly.

  • Facilitates Young Parent groups and monitors Young Parent program participation.

  • Conducts quarterly Individual Success Plan updates.

  • Responds to all crises and risk incidents within the required time frames.

  • Coordinates, tracks, and measures family engagement.

  • Adheres to documentation requirements, including but not limited to accurate data entry into student files, ISPs, weekly/monthly reports, and case notes.

  • Collects, analyzes, and reports on outcomes.

  • Monitors grant requirements to ensure contracted goals are met.

  • Adheres to Organization’s equity position.

  • Forms and maintains positive working relationships with community stakeholders.

  • Ensures budgetary compliance and submits any required documents or reports on time and complete.

  • Maintains working knowledge of social service practices and experience working with families from diverse backgrounds.

  • Attends necessary community and partner meetings.

  • Assists with strategic plans for the department that relate to the future of youth and parent/family involvement programming and community engagement.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or experience working in social work, education, criminal justice, psychology, or related human services field.

  • Three or more years of experience providing case management services.

  • Experience providing outreach, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution skills with youth and families.
