The POIC Kitchen Opens its Doors!

The POIC Kitchen, located at Downtown Rockwood

On Wednesday, June 8th, at the Rockwood Market Hall, the POIC + RAHS community came together to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the POIC Kitchen. The longtime dream of the organization, the culinary institute will not only train underserved young adults to become the future top chefs in Portland but also feed all Rosemary Anderson students delicious and healthy food.

Led by remarks from CEO and President Joe McFerrin II, the lunchtime event brought together staff, donors, elected leaders, Board of Directors, and community members all to revel in this great accomplishment. The Kitchen did not overlook the chance to serve love for the special moment; all in attendance enjoyed delicious food from the Kitchen prepared by Culinary Director Kiara Hardy and staff. Thank you to all who have poured so much love into this project. Students and trainees will benefit so much from this inspiring labor of love.

Our students are hungry. And not just for food. They crave leadership opportunities, genuine adult mentorship, safe outlets for creative expression, and pathways to meaningful, living-wage career options.

Our students are fed, but we want to nourish them. More than standard school lunches, we want to provide nutrient-dense food, made with love, and offered with an invitation to heal - emotionally, and physically.

The POIC Kitchen is where all of these opportunities come together -  health, education, employment, community, and camaraderie. The Kitchen is the place where real nourishment starts, for our students, their families, and our shared community.
— President + CEO Joe McFerrin II
