The Power to Heal Gala

The Power to Heal POIC + RAHS Annual Gala

We knew going into the event that the community wanted to come together again, but the response was overwhelming. It was the most attended POIC + RAHS Gala yet! After three years of putting off plans due to the pandemic, the RSVPs created a buzz that got us ready. We were all eager to celebrate in a big way - and did we ever!

Generous donors GAVE BIG! At The Power to Heal Gala, we raised over $370,000 to support students and participants. Your generosity helps us continue our work to provide youth and adults dealing with community violence, poverty, and family instability the opportunity to heal. Because we are growing to answer the need, your investments in us mean we can strengthen our programming and scale up to respond to keep the community safe and resilient.

Thank you.

You are making a difference and contributing to the healing journeys of those we serve. Together, there's no challenge we can't overcome.

The bonds we build with our students and their families are DEEPβ€”and when we lose one, it’s devastating because they are one of our own.

What We’re Healing From

Here’s why we need healing, how POIC + RAHS is a leader in healing the community, and the importance of investing in our work.

Over the last three years, we have faced pressures and challenges as a community. POIC + RAHS has stepped up to meet those challenges and continued to be a prominent leader of change. We have expanded our violence intervention and prevention teams and now have more internships across the Portland area than ever. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we serve our students delicious, healthy meals in the new POIC Kitchen.

TW: This video features themes of loss and grief. Rosemary Anderson teacher Aubrey Williams leads us on a tour of her classroom memorial, which honors the students she has lost due mainly to community violence.
